| In the heart of the Bavarian forest. Rolling, tree covered hills and mountains and beautiful sunny valleys. Rivers and lakes are within easy reach, as are the ski slopes. (Arber and Proller being the closest and best known.)
The Czech border is a mere 25 minutes drive (great for discount shopping trips .. and casinos !)
The nearest town is Viechtach, at about 5km. Here you will find everything you might need in the way of supermarkets, building supplies, restaurants, banks etc. There is also a hospital and a railway station, should you need them.
The area is known as a Wellness Resort and attracts
large numbers of tourists, in both summer and winter seasons, most of whom come from Holland, Belgium and
Northern Germany.
The village (and the house) is set on a hill and so commands fabulous views of the surrounding countryside and nearby ski-slopes. Here, in the village, you will find a bakery (right next door !) a butcher's shop, post-office, two banks and two guest-houses, both with excellent food !
Very little traffic .. only the neighbours passing the house, since all roads lead only to the church and Gasthof to the rear. There is no through traffic, the main village road being at the foot of the hill.
A birds-eye view of every wedding or village festival (complete with Brass Band and Bavarian costume) is a bonus which comes, gratis, with the house !
