Borovets is the most widely known ski resort in Bulgaria and is extremely popular due to it’s close proximity to Sofia with short airport transfers. The resort is located at 1350m with ski runs up to 2900m and is currently being enlarged under the new Super Borovets development plan. This €400m plan will result in the doubling of the ski terrain with new lifts set to open making it by far the largest ski region in Bulgaria. The area is also bidding for 2018 Winter Olympics.
