Area Information |
| The village of Charlestown is home to an orginal working Georgian Harbour. Still in use today, it is perhaps best known as the mooring place for the many masted traditional Tall Ships. The beautiful surroundings and the largley unaltered harbourside cottages have made it a popular location for the shooting of many well known films and tv period dramas. The village has several small local shops, restaurants and a post office, but the major market town of St Austell with it's more comprehensive facilities is only a mile away. The beautiful sandy beaches of St Austell Bay are close by and the world renowned Eden Projects is within a few minutes drive. Truro is only fourteen miles away with all the amenities you would expect of a major city.
There are good road communications via the A30/A38 routes and the mainline station is at St Austell (London Paddington is four and a half hours) Daily flights to Gatwick and Stanstead are from nearby Newquay Airport. |
